Abstract
This article focuses on the study of agricultural land in the Almaty Region using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The research analyzes the dynamics of the regional land fund for the period from 2019 to 2023, including changes resulting from the administrative division of the Almaty Region into the Almaty and Zhetysu regions in 2022.
Special attention is given to the application of GIS technologies for land resource monitoring and management, as well as for analyzing crop productivity. The article presents maps and diagrams illustrating the distribution of cultivated areas and crop yields across the districts of the region.
A SWOT analysis was conducted to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the regional agricultural sector, as well as opportunities and threats for its further development. Based on the results obtained, recommendations for the sustainable use of land resources are proposed, including the implementation of modern technologies, development of irrigation infrastructure, and measures aimed at preserving soil fertility. The findings highlight the importance of GIS technologies in improving agricultural efficiency and ensuring regional food security.
